Awards

Within the categories of Digital Media, Literary, Performing Arts & Visual Art students will be awarded cash prizes, medals and/or trophies based on placement.  Nominee awards are decided on by a team of local judges that are experts within each category.

Prizes are as follows:

  • 1st place – $1,000, medal(s), trophy (traveling)
  • 2nd place – $500, medal(s)
  • 3rd place – $300, medal(s)
  • Honorable Mention – Certificate
  • Gary W. Ostrom Showstopper Award for Performing Arts – $1000

While we recognize winners in each category, celebration, not competition, is our main objective.  Every student that is nominated for Showcase, is a winner.  All of the students’ nominees had a vision within their category and were dedicated to their craft which helped get them to where they are today.

Statement on Showcase 2020 & Coronavirus Pandemic

After much discussion, the Showcase Production Team has decided to cancel the Performing Arts Competition for 2020.

The production team has delayed making a decision in the fervent hope that there would be a way to hold the performing arts competition this year. Unfortunately, we have reviewed the options and we do not believe there is a safe, equitable way to do so.

We have released the script of our show in order to share the amazing accomplishments of these students who will unfortunately not be recognized on the Frauenthal Theater stage. On our website you can also view the entries for Digital Media Arts, Literary Arts, and Visual Arts. You will also find the pages of our program highlighting the accomplishments of the 2020 Academic and Athletic Honorees.

Keep an eye out for an announcement video soon as we celebrate the artists and winners in the areas of Digital Media Arts, Literary Arts, and Visual Arts. Judging for these categories was held before the “Stay home. Stay safe.” order went into effect.

Thank you for your support. We look forward to presenting a spectacular show in 2021 as we celebrate the 40th anniversary of West Michigan Student Showcase!
